Talking Therapy For Adults

Talking therapy is less about talking and more about understanding. It’s a collaborative process between you and your therapist which explores your thoughts and feelings and behaviours. It’s this understanding that helps unravel complex issues.

How can we support you?

We don’t ever say we can resolve the mental health challenges you face – we hope we can, but it’s a big promise. We can promise that we’ll work together to find strategies to live the life you want and follow a path you choose

What types of talking therapy do we offer?

In collaboration with your Counsellor, you lead the service you receive. And for this reason we don’t think it’s helpful to think in terms of what type of therapy you need but in terms of the challenges, worries and mental health conditions you live with.

Because one of our core values is being frank – openness and transparency are vital to build trust – here are are few of the talking therapies we offer:

Each type of talking therapy is designed to treat a specific mental health condition. For example, CBT is used to treat depression and anxiety, while IPT is used to treat interpersonal problems.

You can find more information on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) from The Royal College of Psychiatrists by clicking here and about psychotherapy by clicking here.  To find out more detailed information about Counselling, Interpersonal therapy (IPT), Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) and Psychodynamic therapy, please visit the NHS website by clicking here. The NHS homepage for all talking therapies can be found by clicking here.

A referral is not required initially. However, if a diagnosis is likely, we will let you know when to request a GP referral.

An assessment lasts approximately 1 hour. You can find our full Fees and Cancellation policy by clicking here.

The first meeting with your Counsellor takes approximately 1 hour.

For talking therapies with your therapist/counsellor, these can take place in Leicester, Nottingham, Derby, Coventry and Edinburgh. All assessments and meetings with your Psychiatrist will take place either over the internet or at our Leicester clinic.
