Talking Therapy For Children and Young People in Derby

Talking therapy is about listening and understanding. Feelings, emotions and behaviours can be understood and when they are understood, positive changes can happen.

How do we support Young People?

We don’t ever say we can resolve the mental health challenges your child faces – we hope we can. We can promise that we’ll work together to find strategies to manage difficult experiences, challenges and worries. Improving mental health and wellbeing is our promise to you.

What types of talking therapy do we offer?

We don’t think it’s helpful to think in terms of types of therapy, but instead the challenges, worries and mental health conditions young people live with.

Because one of our core values is being frank – openness and transparency are vital to build trust – here are are few of the talking therapies we offer to Young People:

Cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), for example, is a type of talk therapy that can help people of all ages, including children and teenagers. CBT focuses on how thoughts and emotions affect behaviour.

The Royal College of Psychiatrists have resources and information on Young people’s mental health, which you can visit by clicking here. To find out more about Cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) for Young People, please visit The Royal College of Psychiatrists website by clicking here.
